Sindelar Forever!
April 3, 1938, one last match is granted before the annexation to Germany. Austria is one of the greatest teams of the 1920s and 1930s, not surprisingly called the “Wunderteam”, capable of winning the 1931-1932 International Cup, an important tournament, previously won by Italy coach Pozzo who will later become two-time world champion. Captain and star of that formation is Matthias Sindelar, the protagonist of our solidarity Fumetto Card # 19.
The agreement requested by the Germans was to play “light”, but the Austrians were not so available, Matthias in the first place, who played the game of his life and in the end the final result saw Hitler’s national team lose 2-0, but it could have been much heavier.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the availability of Carlo Rispoli, author with Carlo Bazan of the graphic novel “The Sindelar case” (Signs of the Author, 2020), who designed not one but two solidarity cards.
Limited and numbered edition card + postcard, 69 copies per card, for a total of 138, where that (1) 38 is a clear reference to the famous lot.
Partners of the initiative are Anafi and Lucca Collezionando, who enthusiastically embraced both the editorial proposal and its solidarity purpose, like all our stickers. For this reason, the Fumetto Card # 19 will be available in an exclusive preview during the Lucca festival, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April 2022, at the Anafi stand, with a presentation to the public scheduled for Sunday 3 April in the afternoon, in the presence of the author Carlo Rispoli.
