Celebrative Sticker #83: THE GREAT TORINO – ALDO & DINO BALLARIN!

Grande Torino forever!

In collaboration with the Museo del Grande Torino we are pleased to announce the release of 23 solidarity stickers dedicated to the “immortals” and to that unforgettable season of football, to the Legend of Grande Torino, including 18 players, 2 coaches, club staff, journalists and on-board staff lost their lives in the plane that crashed in Superga on 4 May 1949.

75 years from that day, through the solidarity Celebrative Stickers, the name, the myth, the legend, the history of Grande Torino will be retraced, the team that every Italian in his heart cannot help but love and respect. An unforgettable season of Italian football, the invincibles in the grenade shirt.

“The tragedy is not dying, but forgetting.. and we do not forget”, the Celebrative Sticker #84 is dedicated to Ballarin brothers in collaboration with Aldo Dino Ballarin Museum, Chioggia.

Aldo Ballarin was born in Chioggia on 10 January 1922, grew up as a footballer in Clodia and then moved to Rovigo, Triestina and Venezia. His arrival in Turin in 1945, strongly desired by president Novo, remains in history also for the cost of the transfer, higher than that of Mazzola and Loik together. Footballer of great temperament, excellent right back, skilled at hitting with the head, among the strongest defenders of the time. He made his debut in the granata shirt in a derby against Juventus, with Grande Torino he won 4 championships, with 148 appearances and 4 goals. Also a protagonist in the national team with 9 games played.

Dino Ballarin was born in Chioggia on 23 September 1923, grew up as a footballer in Clodia and then moved to Torino in 1947 as third goalkeeper, present and involved in every training session, with the dream of one day taking Bacigalupo’s place. On May 3 in Lisbon, in the last match, he takes the field in the second half.

Aldo and Dino Ballarin had done the same studies, had played the same game and found themselves in Grande Torino to return home together forever. They died in Superga on 4 May 1949, but their legend had already begun before.

First edition in a numbered edition of 106 copies.
