Thanks to the collaboration with the cultural association Il Bar Del Baseball – Baseball Museum of Nettuno (Rome), comes the memory of the unforgettable match played by Italy against the USA on 5 September 1973 in Parma. It’s time for legends!
The solidarity Celebrative Sticker #47 is dedicated to Angel Argentieri, born in South America, in Caracas (Venezuela) on 8-4-1952. He began his career in Lazio, playing for five championships from 1968 to 1972, then moving on to Fortitudo Bologna, where he played in the championships from 1973 to 1979, winning 2 championships, the first with sponsor Montenegro in 1974 and the second with sponsor Biemme in 1978 He played as a third baseman and outfielder. He boasts 45 appearances with the blue shirt of the Italian national team.
In Parma, in that unforgettable match, he was there.
Parma, 5 September 1973, the last day of the 1st Intercontinental Cup, the Italian national team faces the USA, with great public success. It would seem “David against Goliath”, for Italian baseball born 25 years earlier, to face the American masters. Final score 6-5 with a deciding home run by Vic Luciani in the extra inning. The blue baseball legends won.
