MIRACULOUS Super Heroes Team (PANINI)

EDICOLA NEWS: THE REVIEWS nr. 207

album: MIRACULOUS Super Heroes Team (Panini)
stickers: 192 (1-192) + 50 cards (C1-C50)
starter pack: album + 2 packets + 4 cards limited edition 2,90€
box: 24 packets (4 stickers + 1 card per packet) 1,00€ cad.

Commercial choice or editorial need? Let’s think, in our small way, the second. That is the maintenance of the rights agreements for stickers and cards by making a single album, when no significant sales are expected to make one, let alone two. Understandable for Panini, the reference company gains (in this case Zagtoon), the collectors and lovers of stickers are the losers, adding families and children accordingly. It is obviously not a matter only related to Panini, all publishers fall into this vicious game.

If there is no other way to print albums with this logic, is it equally necessary to make 50 cards? It is not a war against cards, but except in special cases it is an unnecessary increase in spending, difficulty in completing the collection and the combination of the two perhaps makes the quality work that the Panini staff created with the graphics useless.

We say this strongly, the album is very nice, after several Miraculous albums this new release is very interesting, a kind of wikipedia of all the characters in the series, finally not only the main ones but all, or almost all. The “Justice League” of Miraculous in a single album, each hero with his own page and stickers dedicated. All in very colorful and dynamic pages, equally nice stickers, pages that when completed exude stickers from every angle. The album is cool, too bad for the above.

In the center, the insert dedicated entirely to Marinette, the only exception to the world of superheroes, opening central page. Among other things, improved paper quality compared to albums released at the same time. The cards add very little to the quality of the collection, indeed they limit it. It is not being against cards but we believe that certain albums, intended for a younger audience, should start from the assumption that they are also (relatively) simple to complete and economical.

Too bad, any advice? Take the album and calmly wait for some offers on the web to buy just the stickers. If you are passionate about cards and do not have particular budget problems, do not consider our reasoning and enjoy this beautiful collection. Miraculous forever!
