FumettoForever Card #11: GIANLUCA STURMANN!

Marcella Forever! We are happy, excited and proud to announce the Fumetto Forever Card # 11, dedicated to Marcella Di Folco, historical fighter of the LGBT + community, who passed away on 7 September 2010.

Our Association is based in Bologna, the city of Marcella’s adoption where she decided to move from Rome to continue her battles. In Bologna, Marcella was elected to the City Council in 1995, the first transsexual in the world to achieve this result.

Bologna was his city and his main cradle for many initiatives, here in 1988 he became President of MIT, Transsexual Identity Movement, with the creation of a consultancy followed directly by transgender people, also in this case the first in the world.

Our solidarity card wants to be a small means to thank her for what she has done for civil rights, far beyond the LGBT + world, Marcella has been (still is) a point of reference for those who work daily for a better world, for everyone. Marcella fully lived her way of being, first as an actor loved by great Italian directors (Fellini, Rossellini, Risi, etc.), then a strong and stubborn Woman, with many difficulties, but always with a smile. The choice of the solidarity card is deliberate, we remember Marcella like this.

As usual, the choice of the image is not accidental, we wanted to imagine Marcella as a footballer for the Italian national team in the “notti magiche” of the 1990 World Cup. An important year where she was elected in the Saragozza district of Bologna, the first important step that will lead her to the next electoral round. to enter the Municipality. Moreover, not everyone knows that Marcella was passionate about sports and a great fan, of As Roma but also of Bologna FC.

The designer of the card is Gianluca Sturmann, an established illustrator. Gianluca also created the graphics for the MIT 2021 card, which was never better chosen. Above all because Sturmann did not limit himself to making a portrait of Marcella, in addition to the pencil he put his heart into it, making the drawing an even more beautiful tribute with many references that bring back to Di Folco’s way of being, such as the fan, the hat and the inevitable “Favolosa” writing.

MARCELLA FOR DIVERGENTI!

The proceeds from this new solidarity card will go to support DIVERGENTI, the international trans film festival, unique in Italy, in collaboration with the Cineteca of Bologna.
