“Il Barone” Forever! Ask who Gary Baron Schull was. Each team, each fan, has its own idol, its own myth, the relationship of the American with Fortitudo Basket Bologna goes further. Compared to other champions, his stay lasted perhaps less, 5 years; compared to other American champions, he did not come from the NBA, he did not arrive in Bologna at the middle or end of his career, but at just 23 years old.
In Bologna Schull left his heart and soul, playing 5 seasons for a team that did not have the coat of arms of other clubs but for that very reason it was necessary to breathe fire and flames. So Schull made a famous bloody photo of him, carried in triumph after a derby won against Virtus.
Gary Schull was a great player, on the pitch he made a difference, so much so that he won the ranking of the best scorer in Italy but also that of the best rebounder. He had a huge heart, so much so that he gave up continuing his career in Fortitudo to return to the USA to assist his sick mother.
Fortitudo supporters will have noticed it, it is no coincidence, we waited to arrive at Celebrative # 13 to ideally deliver it to the Baron, it could only be his, like number 7, last year, it could only be dedicated to Gigi Meroni. That same shirt number 13 worn by Schull over the years Fortitudo and by the Bolognese club then withdrawn, now stands at the top of the Paladozza, just above the curve that bears his name and where the ultras of Fossa dei Leoni are crowded. Historical reality of organized support, born in the years of the Baron in Bologna, this too cannot be just a coincidence.
There are emblematic photos of Schull in Fortitudo, often linked to the early years when the sponsor was Eldorado ice cream, which is why we wanted to do something different. The solidarity sticker portrays him with the Alco shirt, season 72/73 (his last in Bologna), his stickers with the Eldorado shirt exist, there is no (at this point, there was no) an Alco sponsored.
In addition, the strong relationship with the fans could not fail to be celebrated in turn and so here he is the Baron, who returned to the city of Bologna, showing the scarf of Fossa dei Leoni at the curve. Most of the boys and girls of the curve were not yet born when Schull wore the colors of the F shield, but it does not matter, his myth has made him immortal, a legend that will never end. Too bad fate took him away too soon.
We would have liked to have sent this solidarity card to the Baron, we will send it to his son Garrett to whom we talked about this project several months ago and he replied happy, also about the social purposes and having involved the fans, who have never stopped loving, they will never be able to do it, dad Gary.

An unnumbered version was also printed, mainly used for distribution to people involved in this project.
The copy number 13 was not put up for sale but donated to the Schull family. The copy number 103, like the Fortitudo FIP affiliation code, was not put up for sale, but delivered to the Fortitudo Museum Association. Copy number 70, with reference to 1970, the year of birth of the ultras group, was delivered to the Fossa dei Leoni Fortitudo Bologna
